Expert Witness, Surveyor Advocacy & Dispute Mediation
Expert Witness
An expert witness, professional witness or judicial expert is an individual who by virtue of education, training, skill or experience, is believed to have expertise and specialised knowledge in a particular subject beyond that of the average person.
As an RICS Chartered Surveyor with over 20 years of experience, Chris may be employed as an 'expert witness' to prepare Expert Witness Reports for court as either Single or Joint Expert.
When giving live evidence in court, at tribunal or before an arbitrator, adjudicator or independent expert, a surveyor may act as an Expert Witness, discussing the findings found in their report, or as a Surveyor Advocate.
Surveyor Advocacy
A Surveyor-Advocate is appointed to present the case for the client using the surveyor's skills of advocacy, rather than expert opinion. The surveyor is instructed by the client to persuade the court, tribunal or third-party surveyor that the client's case should be the preferred one
Christopher was called to the Bar in 2015 and is familiar with the Civil Procedure Rules, his duty to the court and is proficient in giving evidence in court.
Dispute Mediation
Mediation is an effective tool for tackling a wide range of property and construction related issues. It involves the facilitative role of a trained third party neutral to assist parties in themselves coming to and managing the settlement of their dispute.
Chris is a RICS Accredited Mediator and can guide and manage you and the other parties involved through a process of controlled negotiations, as to avoid escalation of conflict, in order to try to reach a negotiated settlement.
